Read your eyes off

I’m not the most politically involved, but this is the most offensive BS the government can pull on this nation.  Recently, a bill has been proposed and passed by the Senate called the National Defense Authorization Act.  This bill states, according to Firedoglake.com that:

“(1) Explicitly authorize the federal government to indefinitely imprison without charge or trial American citizens and others picked up inside and outside the United States;

(2) Mandate military detention of some civilians who would otherwise be outside of military control, including civilians picked up within the United States itself; and

(3) Transfer to the Department of Defense core prosecutorial, investigative, law enforcement, penal, and custodial authority and responsibility now held by the Department of Justice.”

What the heck has this nation come to?  The government can’t trust its own nation and has essentially turned American soil into another battlefield?  The government is going to strip us of our freedom, the thing countless men and women had died for protecting, so that it can “protect” us? 

To be fair, yes, there is indeed a potential threat within our nation.  This, however, does NOT justify stripping away the defense of the innocent so that it’s at the full discretion of the Department of DEFENSE, NOT Justice.  Without even taking into the account of the corruption and the BS that the government can pull to make virtually ANYONE a target, the very fact that it will have this power over the people is already uprooting the very foundation this nation is established upon.

93 out of 100 Senates passed this bill.  What the heck is going on in Congress these days?
